An Unexpected Memory ❤️⚽🔨
From the Soccer Field to the Workshop Table:
Yesterday was one of those days that reminded me how often the best family memories happen when you least expect them.
We spent the morning cheering on my son at his soccer game. The kids played their hearts out and absolutely dominated on the field. As parents, there's nothing quite like watching your child work hard, have fun, and celebrate with their teammates after a great game.
Afterward, we realized we had a little extra time before heading home. For years, I've wanted to take my kids to one of the Home Depot Kids Workshops, but the closest Home Depot to us is about 45 minutes away. It always seemed like something we'd do "someday."
Well, yesterday became that day.
Since we were already a little closer to a Home Depot than usual, we decided to go for it. The kids had no idea where we were headed, and their excitement grew the moment they walked in and saw all the other children gathered around the workshop tables.
And here's the part that made it even more special...
The craft of the day was a soccer goalie game! ⚽🥅
After spending the morning playing soccer, they got to build their very own soccer-themed project. It felt like the perfect ending to the day. They carefully hammered, painted, and assembled their projects, proudly showing off every step along the way.
As parents, we sometimes think memorable moments have to be elaborate vacations, expensive outings, or perfectly planned adventures. But yesterday reminded me that sometimes all it takes is saying "yes" to a simple opportunity.
A soccer game.
A spontaneous stop.
A free kids' workshop.
And suddenly you've created a memory your children will talk about for weeks.
Watching them proudly carry their goalie games out of Home Depot made me realize that it's often these little experiences that become the big memories.
I'm so glad we finally made the trip.
Sometimes "someday" is today. ❤️
