Ten Apples Up on Top: Fun Apple-Themed Activities with the Kiddos 🍎
This week, we had so much fun exploring the book Ten Apples Up on Top with the little ones! It’s such a playful story that’s perfect for engaging preschoolers and early learners, and we turned it into a whole day of hands-on apple-themed activities. Here’s what we did:
1. Searching for the Star in the Apple ⭐
We started by examining apples closely and searching for the “star” in the center. It was amazing to see the kids’ faces light up when they discovered the tiny star-shaped pattern in the core. This activity was a fun way to introduce observation skills and nature’s little surprises!
2. Balancing Apples on Our Heads 🍏
Next up, we tried balancing apples on our heads—just like in the book! Some wobbled, some fell, and a few stayed perfectly in place. This activity helped with coordination, balance, and a lot of giggles along the way.
3. Matching Apple Colors 🍎🍏🍎
We laid out a mix of red, green, and yellow apples and played a matching game. The kiddos loved sorting and grouping them by color, which was a simple way to reinforce color recognition and sorting skills.
4. Writing the Letter A ✏️
Finally, we practiced writing the letter “A,” inspired by our apple theme. Some traced apples shaped like the letter, while others practiced freehand. It was a great literacy activity that tied perfectly into our story.
These activities are simple, hands-on, and full of fun learning opportunities. They help kids build observation, coordination, color recognition, and early writing skills—all while enjoying the story of Ten Apples Up on Top!
