Some Memories Don't Need a Season πŸŽƒπŸ§‘

I know it's nowhere near Halloween season, currently being summer here, but I came across these pictures today and couldn't help but stop and smile. If I'm being honest, this page is really for my kiddos, so I'm just going to leave these memories here for them to look back on someday. ❀️

Back then, it was just the four of usβ€”Mom, Dad, and our two boys. We would throw on our costumes, grab the candy buckets, and head out for an evening of trick-or-treating. One little tradition we always had was dressing up in a family theme, and looking back, I'm so glad we did.

As the boys got older, they started wanting to pick their own costumes instead of matching everyone else, but these pictures are from a time when they still happily played along. My youngest was the cutest little Dalmatian, and my oldest was a firefighter. They were so proud of their costumes, and seeing their little smiles instantly takes me back.

What really got me today, though, was the people in the background.

We'd stop at family members' houses along our route. In one of these pictures, you can see my grandpa opening the front door with that familiar smile, ready to see the kids all dressed up. Grandma giving kisses. I didn't think much of it at the timeβ€”it was just another stop on our night. But today, seeing that picture hit differently. Boy, do I wish I could knock on that door one more time and be greeted by him again.

There were pictures with my godfather, too, sitting in his favorite chair while the boys went running down the steps to see him. He's gone now as well, and seeing him there reminded me how quickly time passes and how precious these ordinary moments really are.

It's funny how a simple Halloween photo can hold so much more than costumes and candy. It holds people, conversations, laughter, traditions, and memories that can never be recreated.

So I'm leaving these pictures here. Not because it's Halloween season, but because the people in them deserve to be remembered. And someday, I hope my kids look back. I hope they see the family that loved them, the traditions we shared, and the faces of the people who made their childhood so special.

Some memories really don't need a season. β€οΈπŸŽƒ
