Riviera Maya: Mexican Food: Chips, Queso, Fajitas & Kid-Friendly Drinks
A Family Favorite: From La Tapatia to Riviera Maya
Some places just stick with you—and for our family, one of those places was La Tapatia. When the boys were little, we stopped by this cute little spot a few times, for a meal full of laughter, chips, and the kind of food that makes your heart happy.
We’d start, of course, with the endless chips and salsa. The boys could—and often did—eat their weight in them! I never failed to order the creamy white queso, because let’s be honest, a little (okay, a lot) of queso makes everything better. And no meal was complete without drinks for frozen “NA” margaritas for the boys. They always had to have one—it was their special treat!
The real showstopper was always the food. We loved sharing the biggest sizzling fajita, paired with a plate of rice, beans, and a chimichanga. Every bite was pure deliciousness, and it was the perfect meal for our family-style dining. Watching the boys dive in and try everything with big smiles never got old.
Time moves on, and La Tapatia has now become Riviera Maya—but the flavors and memories are just as unforgettable. Every time we visit, it’s like stepping back into those fun family moments, even with our boys a little older now.
If you’re looking for a place where the food is generous, the chips never end, and the memories are made to last, Riviera Maya is a must-visit. Bring your appetite…and maybe a few extra napkins for that queso!
